I love collaborations. Love em love em love em. Especially between two artists coming from different creative sides. I sculpted this odd little bird, and a friend of a friend painted it, and the result is the beautiful, creepy, crazy critter you see before you. I call it Blackbird.

Blackbird plays on the form of the Beakbrains, the idea of a bird's beak being its face. I feel this sculpt takes it a step further, melding beak and face and body.

Looks to me like an apple, a heart, a planet in a starscape. What's it look like to you?

I've been trying to capture a real wrinkly, heavy feel in my ceramics. You'll see more wrinkly things coming as soon as they are painted.

The eyes are actually holes that lead down into the hollow body.

Blackbird is this big.
